Todd and Leah organized a team of 10 from BC to attend this technology conference and use the time between sessions to think about the future of technology at BC.  They creatively put together funding from several grants to be able to pull off this effort.

Subject: Tech Boot Camp preview — Skype’ing with BC attendees at Sloan Conference next week

I’m going tag on to Bill’s announcement about the Tech Boot Camp with an invitation to two Skype sessions with the BC employees going to the Sloan Conference on Emerging Technologies for Online Learning next week (April 8 to 11). The group going to the conference will be developing a work plan to bring the lessons learned there back to campus to improve how we use technology in the classroom regardless of the mode (face-to-face, hybrid, or online) and thereby increase student engagement with the content of our classes. For those of us who couldn’t go, I’ve arranged with Todd Coston to try to get in on some of the action through Skype during their lunch meetings on Tuesday and Wednesday, assuming they can find a place with good broadband access where they have lunch.

We will meet in L182 (bottom floor of the library in the Information Services’ teleconference room) at the following times:

Tuesday 12:30 to 1:30 and Wednesday 12:45 to 1:30 (or so).

I should know by Monday evening if the internet connection at their end is going to work or not, so keep an eye out for an email about the Tues/Wed lunch sessions.

If you would like some background about the Sloan Conference, see my March ISIT report posted at
